Listen to Episode 1: Taste the Feed

Algorithmic Appetite is an exploration of how digital food media reshapes our cravings, our attention, and the way we experience food today. Drawing from media theory, sensory studies, and cultural analysis, the project uncovers how appetite is increasingly engineered by screens rather than senses, and asks what it would mean to reclaim awareness in a world of automated craving.

This project culminates in an interactive website, a research essay, and a podcast series. The website translates theoretical research into a digital experience, using scrolling interactions, visual metaphors, and curated feeds to reveal how our online environments shape consumption. The podcast brings these ideas into conversation, featuring interviews and personal reflections that expand the project’s narrative. Together, the research, design, and audio storytelling form a cohesive case study that examines the shifting landscape of food media and proposes design as a tool for rebuilding agency in how we look, choose, and crave.
